On the Nightly Sports Call, there was discussion of a potential trade with Toronto for DeSmith as Toronto's Anderson is out injured and they need another dependable goalie.

Anderson only going to miss two games it appears.

Pens escapted FLA with a 3-2 win. Jarry was solid in goal and JJ, who's been playing well for awhile now, played an outstanding game. PP sighting with Crosby scoring off a nice set up. It turns out that for the last week, Gonchar has been helping out with the PP. Why one of the best PP players ever is just now being asked to help out is anyone's guess.

Sullivan has no confidence in the 4th line, won't play them more than a couple shifts, then wonders why the other 9 Fs aren't getting back as much on defense.

Ouch...I was hoping not to give up a 1st. I will need to research this a bit more if I like love hate or am indifferent.

I am ok with this trade from the Pens' side. Obviously, Galchenyk did not fit with Sullivan, Addison is a smaller, less defensively capable Letang. Marino's emergence and Pettersson new deal made Addison expendable. I wish Rutherford wasn't always so fast to throw in a 1st rd pick, but I'd rather than include Poulin or Legare, both of whom I believe will be in Pgh next season.

This trade will also allow McCann to return to center with Hornqvist/Lafferty once Kahun returns.

A bit disappointing to lose in OT as this was the second game in two days for TB, but a point is a point. Zucker was less than impressive fumbling and bumbling the puck. Hopefully he will improve as he gets acclimated.

As you know I'm not even all in on this trade by any stretch but he probably had barely even one practice with the team. I'm sure that he will acclimate better than his debut.

No doubt. His legs worked fine and he got himself in good positions to score, but his hands were pretty shaky. I believe I read that one of his post-game comments was about how his hands were kind of deserting him this season. We shall see.

Im not sure the 12:30 games are such bad news at this point. I mean they are 2-0 with wins over Boston and Washington so far.

12:30 game but Detroit is the worst team in hockey for a reason.

Pens 5
Detroit 1
Final

What we need to see them do against bottom feeders.

Pens are surprising me with their spirited play in afternoon games. Detroit played hard, but it's a rebuild there. I thought Murray was noticeably improved. He stayed on his feet more and when he did go down, he got up quickly. I think this is best I've seen him play fundamentally well for 2 years.

ZAR got hurt, didn't hear what Sullivan said, but on the post-game radio heard Borque say it sounded not good.

Caps lose 3-2 to Vegas, meaning Pens are 1 pt out of 1st in the Metro with 2 games in hand.
