Clemson is a lock.  They are the only contender in Top 10 that doesn't have to play another Top 10 team.  OSU/PSU, LSU/Bama, Oregon/Utah.  Built in attrition that will make life easier for the Committee.

Agree Nicky.  Bama could be the odd man out if they lose to LSU.  I think both LSU and Penn State can afford to lose as long as it's close and still get in and Clemson's a lock as long as they don't blow a game.  Lot of ball to be played yet and anything can happen.

One of the more irrelevant moments in sports is when these weekly rankings are released. They ought to do like basketball and just have a selection show after the conference championships.

Couldn't agree more.  Most hilarious is the fact that they have the 1-4 BCS semi-finals set up as conference rematches.  Again, Clemson is a lock because of just how poor the ACC is.  The winners of the ACC, Big10 and Pac12 games will thin the field.  Georgia and Oregon will be the wildcard players, as it depends on how far they drop the loser of the LSU/Bama game and if they move up Oregon enough should they blow thru the Pac12 and then Utah in title game.

Penn State will only get in if they beat Minnesota, then win at OSU. Given OSU poor performance in the national playoffs, a close win against Penn State might doom them anyway.

And they have only lost once. Granted they got killed by Clemson.

Oklahoma is the team the performs poorly in the playoffs. 0-3 I believe.

When it comes to the playoff for a national champ, I just think..hey D II and D III figured out how to do it...so just follow their plan.  I think that is better than this 'mythical' championship they run now.

the Bowl games are worth too much to them , they need decent teams in those games so they can keep making that money

Use the many meaningless bowl games as part of the playoffs...first rounds, quarter and semi finals. There are bowl games the entire month of December that could be incorporated with little problem if they wanted..and the bowl game people would probably love having a money maker game.

I simply donít like the idea of teams like Michigan, Florida or Texas with 2 or 3 losses in a season like this to make the playoffs.

Maybe thatís the wrong mindset to be in. Because literally every other team sport in the United States has a more inclusive playoffs than college football, but I just canít get out of it.
