Thinking of an old friend today
« on: September 25, 2019, 11:22:59 PM »

Today is Big Fat RiverRat's birthday.  The gentle giant would have been 77.  I laugh every time I think about going to ball games with Rat and SteamRollers1.  He'd have us in stitches the entire game.  What a great friend.

We had some funny times Coach.  Keep in mind RAT was an ex-Marine and tipped the scales around 370 and was strong as an ox.  As I said, he was a gentle giant unless someone pissed him off.  We were at a Steel-High game one night standing in our usual spot on the 35 yard live.  RAT had his car parked inside right behind us.  Anyway, someone came by and said "Larry, there's a bunch of kids bouncing on your car".  We're thinking "he's going to kill one or more of them".  My wife stopped him and said "Larry, I've got this, stay!"  She walked over to the kids and said something and they all scattered.  She came back laughing and said, "I just pointed at you 3 and said you see those 3 very large men over there?  One of them owns the car but all 3 will be over here in 3 seconds if I yell".  Problem solved and no bloodshed!! LOL
