Bfgrad, Nutsac didn't pay $300 million for the Pirates.  I couldn't find the figure but when he took over in 2007, they were valued at $250 million and that has ballooned to $1.3 billion this year.

As far as that turd from Miami that was on the Fan 93.7, I almost drove off the road during his interview. Saying how much Nutsac wants to win and he's pouring everything into payroll was comical to the highest level.

I remember when the Pirates were sold to McClatchy, the sale price wasn't that much, low 7 figures, iirc. Whatever it was, Nutting would make a phenomenal profit if he sold. Remember he spent years paying down debt with revenue sharing money, so he probably would have close to pure profit on any sale.

McClatchy and investors bought the Bucs for $95 million.

Pitchers duel in Chicago as it is 0-0 and each team only has 1 hit through 5 innings.  Archer has looked great as he has struck out 9.  Would be nice to get him some run support.

I just tuned in.  Archer throwing a 1-hitter threw 6 innings.  BOOM, Bryant goes yard to open the 7th, driving a 2-2 slider into the bleachers in left.

Rizzo single, Caratini walk on 10 pitchers.  Archer now at 100+ pitches.  Time to go to bullpen.

With the game hanging in the balance, Clown Clint doesn't call on Crick, or Vazquez....No, Clint Van Winkle awakens and calls on Michael Feliz.
Hayward single, Garcia sac fly (now down 2-0) (all of that on just 3 pitches), Almora single, Bote walks on 5 pitches (now down 3-0)....still only 1 out.

HELLO?  CLOWN CLINT?  The All-Star Break is OVER!  And you left your All-Star sitting in the bullpen.  IDIOT!

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

How does Liriano not face the two lefties due up after taking Archer out? Or Franky could have faced Heyward in the 8th.

Hurdle is just awful with his bullpen. Too many games lost due to his mismanaging the pen.  Going to Feliz in the most critical moment of the game is just mind-blowing to me.

Again 2 weeks ago he threw Vazquez in a tie game in the 8th and won the game. Everybody said that was a good move and was thankful he did something he never would in the past. So now he has had two other opportunities to do the same thing and didnít and the Pirates lost both times. I hate him.

With the Clown's lineup today, this game is over.

Lyles walks Schwarber, fanned Baez, walks Bryant, Rizzo hits an outside fastball through the left side shift, 1-0 Cubs, and they're not done in the 1st.

Really not done:  Contreras homers on a hanging 2-2 curve ball and it's 4-0 Cubs.

GAME VERY OVER, 5 batters in.  4 have scored, 1 out.

Follow that with a Heyward double, Russell walk, Almora whiffs, Lester 2-run single with Russell scoring from 1st and Schwarber walks for the second time in the inning.
You think MAYBE it's time to get Lyles out of the game, Clint Van Winkle?

Cubs repaying the Pirates for the game in Pittsburgh last week.  Up 10-0 in the 4th and they are still hitting.

Pirates arenít quitting though as KANG homers and Marte adds 2 more homers.  Sadly they are all solo shots mixed with with a Dickerson RBI. Had a chance to do some damage in the 7th but left a couple on base.

Marte has 3 homers in the last 2 games and Bell has a few hits today.  Still have a couple innings left and Pirates have come back enough this season that I wonít give up on them.

10-4

That was the 100th career home for Marte.  He joins Barry Bonds as only players in team history with 100 homers and 200 stolen bases.

A game like today is why it was so important to win a game like yesterday were the bad managing of the bull pen cost the Pirates a chance at a win.  You can't give away those games where you have a shot to win them.

Jordan Lyles in his first five games was 5-0. In his last 6 games he is 1-5 with a 10.32 ERA. He gives up 7 runs and only goes 2/3rds of an inning today

He just has not been good

Why people are screaming they need to trade for another starter.  Especially since we have no clue if Taillon is coming back.

Reports this week had them interested in Homer Bailey and other reports saying if they are sellers, then the Dodgers want Vazquez.  Reportedly the Pirates win a ton for him though.

Nice job saving Vazquez on Friday for a 10-4 loss Saturday.

I think the Pirates pitching isnít close enough to make a difference with a trade. They need 2 starters and probably 3 relief pitchers to have a playoff caliber staff. Just throw in the towel and try to improve it in the offseason. Kela and Taillon arenít coming back this season. Donít chase something you canít reach.
