2019 PGA Championship
« on: May 13, 2019, 07:52:15 PM »
This weekend at famous Bethpage Black.  The NYC crowd is renowned for being raucous.  Should be real fun to watch.  Justin Thomas has withdrawn because of a wrist injury.

I like the move to May for this Tournament as it gives up a major per month before the season ending push with The Fedex Cup and Tour Championship.

Yes, and if you count The Players Championship's move to March, you have five months in a row with a major tourney.  Hopefully they keep this schedule for years to come.

March:  The Players
April:  The Masters
May:  PGA
June:  US Open
July:  Brit Open

A lot of people are still picking Tiger to win this but he has taken 4 weeks off so he might be a little rusty?

Rusty would be the word for what is happening as he double bogeyed his first hole and followed a birdie with another double bogey.  Tiger is +3 after 9 holes.  The only good thing is so far the course isn't giving much as those able to score are -3.

Well, it seems Tiger has knocked the rust off has he has 2 birdies and an eagle on the front 9 to get to -1 and currently tied for 5th.

Bruce Koepka in the lead at -7

Rust must've came back for Tiger as he finished at +2

Tiger misses the cut. I'm sure the ratings will drop over the weekend but not for me as this is Koepka's tournament to lose as he is -12 through 2 rounds, 7 shots up on second place

Tiger, Rahm, Sergio, Bubba, DeChanbeau and Reed all miss cut.  Rory, Day, Finau barely make the cut buy a single stroke.

Tournament is playing like a US or British Open right now.

I wish the PGA Chhampionship would find a few venues and stick to a rotation.  To me it never really feels like a major.

Koepka is just a machine.  The thing that sets him apart right now is that he hasn't had any of the major blow ups, like double bogeys or a string of bogeys in a row.

Hard to think he won't win by 5+ shots unless one of the no-names behind him (Luke List, Jazz Janetowonadad, Harold Varner) make a run.  DJ is in that group as well, and the only real star name who has even a bit of a chance.

Well, Koepka shoots a 74 but still finishes at -8 and wins by two strokes. Thatís his second PGA Championship in a row and he has won 4 of the last 8 Majors

Oh, and he is also the #1 rated golfer in the world

It got interesting as Brooks bogeyed 4 straight holes on the back 9 and the lead went to 1, but DJ couldnít get any closer due to some misfires on the last few holes.
