I'm kind laughing at the Keuchel talk. Obviously the thought is to backfill for Taillon who will be out for a long while, butnjust looking at numbers, his WHIP from last season is worse than any of the Pirates 5 regular starters. Of course he is better than their two relievers who have generally stunk at starting this season. So we're talking around $14 million/year for [potentially] a number 5 starter? Granted, the depth would be nice, but...

Bell with another homer to tie last season.

Regarding Bell my only gripe with him has been defense. I have been on his bandwagon all along because of the Pirates historical lack of a 1B. Really since Dave Parker I feel like Orlando Merced was probably their best 1B, and even he did not hit for power. Otherwise, this is the same team that had Sean Rod start a freaking playoff game at first lol.

Kevin Young had a few good seasons at 1st. I think he was better than Merced.

Today is a blowout. Archer apparently got hit hard. But when Greinke is pitching how he has for the past few weeks not much matters. Heís in top form right now and heís pretty much untouchable.

Really bad 1st inning for Archer but then he calmed down and got to the 4th and couldn't get that third out and Arizona blew it wide open. I liked the pickup when they got Archer last season but IMO, he has been a big disappointment

Regarding Bell, I think his defense is coming along and I believe he will turn out to be a really good first baseman for the Pirates. That is if they don't trade him away to save money

pirates lose today 11-1

Archer and Stratton did not look good. Archer gave up 7 of the runs in 4 innings and Stratton the other 4 runs also in 4 innings

That 3 run homer definitely hurt as the Pirates lose 4-3. What might hurt even more is Trevor Williams leaves early with pain in his left side

Lyles 12 strikeouts thru 7 innings! He has been ridiculous.

He is due up second I would assume that they will pinch hit for him (he has around 105 pitches).

He's not a capable backup catcher my man.  29 teams passing up the chance to grab him proved that pretty emphatically.

He's a warm body.

Bell is just locked in right now as he has seen 2 strikes in his 2 plate appearances and hit both out of the park.  4 RBI so far this game as Pirates lead 5-0.  Bell is leading NL in RBI at the moment.
