New Castle beats Ambridge so my last update doesn't really change.   The top 4 seeds will be NC, Ambridge, QV, and Uniontown.  Only debate is Uniontown the 2, 3, or 4 seed.

My biased bracket which rewards section championships (which I know isn't mandatory). I do agree though that we will get something similar to what wpialbasketball has posted.

1 New Castle

8 Derry
9 Blackhawk

4 Highlands
13 Beaver

5 Knoch
12 Belle Vernon

2 Uniontown

7 Ringgold
10 Freeport

3 Ambridge

6 Quaker Valley
11 South Park

With all due respect, that would be highly unlikely for the bracket to come out where the Section 2 teams are forced to eat each other!

The only weird thing I could see happening is if Uniontown got the 3 and QV the 6.

I hope for selfish reasons they keep Uniontown and new castle apart so they can potentially meet in the championship because the only way Iím getting into that game is if itís at Peterson.

I thought about that and really was going to make QV a 4 or 5, but I figured that was unfair to New Castle.  Even in your bracket there is a good chance New Castle gets a section 2 team in the second round.  At some point finishing 3rd in a section shouldn't be rewarded as much as winning a section.  That's always been my stance but I know that's not the case.

I fully expect UT to be a 4 seed tomorrow against Beaver.

I will say that UT does have a 3-3 (1-2 vs Bridge, 1-1 vs BHawk, 1-0 vs Central Valley) playoff record against teams from section 2 in the Coach K era.  So they have been respectable against what is routinely the best section in the class.

I get what you are saying so it's probably fair to move Derry/Blackhawk to the 7-10 game and Ringgold/Freeport to the 8-9 game.

We also have to remember this is the same WPIAL that screwed up the 3A football bracket last year to protect North Catholic by keeping them away from BF and Aliquippa, so who knows.  Thankfully, no North Catholic in this field to protect.

Little birdies have a way of talking to people and things sometimes get leaked.  I guess the discussion with Uniontown is 3 seed or 4 seed.  One person tried to make the case for them being a 6 seed (which I would lose my mind over).  The talking point has been lack of quality wins.  Wash High is probably best win they have in non conference.  They beat AG (twice) and Connellsville and both those teams made their playoff field in 5A and 6A respectively but will be low seeds.  To be fair though AG did beat McKeesport and Connellsville nearly beat Latrobe.

The 6 seed may not be that bad for Uniontown if they feel they are better than Quaker Valley.  I would think the path with the 4 seed would provide a clear path the the PIAA playoffs for the Raiders.
