New Promotion: All Elite Wrestling
« on: January 01, 2019, 10:21:22 AM »

https://411mania.com/wrestling/all-elite-wrestling-double-or-nothing-officially-announced/

Been rumored for months, but it is official now. No way they can compete with WWE and that shouldnít be the goal.  However, this probably isnít good for ROH and Impact as they have another competitor.

News broke that Kenny Omega has decided to leave New Japan.  Seems there is going to be a bidding war between WWE and All Elite for his services.  The caveat is that all his friends (members of The Elite) are starting AEW.  WWE wants him badly though and reports are that they have made him a fantastic offer that most new guys don't get.

AEW had a party last night to hype their Vegas show in May called Double or Nothing.  As expected it was announced that Kenny Omega has signed with AEW and looks to be set for a match with Chris Jericho for the show.

AEW announced with they will have a live weekly show in TNT later this year.  No day of the week was announced, but AEW did fill a trademark for Tuesday Dynamite at one point, but I can't see that day because TNT has NBA coverage on Tuesday and Thursday.  AEW won't go head to head with WWE on Monday or Friday (SmackDown) so Wednesday seems to make the most sense unless they will just be pre-empted a lot during basketball season or moved to another station.

I'm looking forward to this. I've been really bored with the WWE lately

I wasn't able to get the pay per view since I was working but I was able to catch most of the matches and highlights on YouTube and it overall was a good pay per view. There were a few surprise debuts as not only Moxley but Awesome Kong came back also. The match between Cody and Dustin Rhodes was really good and it was an absolute blood bath as Dustin got cut after hitting an exposed turnbuckle and bled all over the ring. Very emotional speech from Cody after the match. It was really good and JR was of course excellent on commentary.

AEW and TNT announced that AEW will be getting a 2 hour show live on Wed night on TNT.  WWE may be looking to have their Wed NXT show that is only on the WWE Network move to Fox Sports One.

Anybody else catch the AEW pay per view last night? I really enjoyed it and thought they put on a very good show. Chris Jericho became the first ever AEW champion and he looks to be in really good shape. Lucha bros and the Young Bucks put on a really good ladder match for the tag team championship (Lucha bros won) and it was full of crazy flips and dives of the ladders and ropes. I can't even count how many tables were broke in that match

If they keep building on this hype, this should be a really good alternative to watch other than only the WWE

I didnít see the show.  I did watch the NXT UK show and by all accounts they put on a better show than AEW.

WALTER/Bate UK Title match was amazing and match of the weekend by all accounts.

AEW shows are running quite long which people kill the WWE for and it is burning they live crowd out.  I also saw some complaining about Jericho winning as he is a 49 year old Ex WWE guy.  To me, he had to win as nobody wants to be pay to see Adam Page at this point.

I think he needed to win also just for the name recognition. More people know the name Jericho and they will need that until they get more established IMO

I didn't see the NXT show but I also heard it was really good
