Plenty of LBs and DBs are smiling tonight.  :)

The really big news is that Bouchette left the PG for The Athletic. His Steeler coverage was getting pretty stale and limited to conventional thinking and analysis. No big loss, time for a fresher voice.

Steelers traded up with Den for the 10th pick to select Mich LB Devin Bush. The teams swapped 1st round choices and Steelers gave Den their 2nd round choice and 3rd round choice in 2020.

Steelers take Dionte Johnson, WR from Toledo, with the 2nd pick and Justin Layne, Mich St CB, with their 3rd pick.

Johnson is slated for slot receiver and also PR/KR. My guess is he'll replace Switzer on the roster. Johnson has a similar profile to AB.

Layne's a converted WR ala Brian Allen who was drafted a couple years ago and similar in size, speed.

It would be nice if the Steelers decided to take a defensive lineman because Heyward is 30 and the back up are average. If they don't start taking and developing a couple of DL, they won't have worry about pass defense because every opponent will just run, run, run on them.

Full draft choices:
1st Devon Bush, ILB
3rd Dionte Johnson, WR
3rd Justin Layne, CB/DB
4th Benny Snell, Jr, RB
5th Zach Gentry, TE
6th Sutton Smith, LB
6th Isiah Buggs, DT/DE
7th Derwin Gray, OT

List of UDFA's per Steelers official website:

Below is a list of the 10 rookie free agents.

Name, Position, School
Dravon Askew-Henry, S, West Virginia
Ian Berryman, P, Western Carolina
Garrett Brumfield, G, LSU
Jay Hayes, DE, Georgia
Fred Johnson, G, Florida
Travon McMillian, RB, Colorado
Alexander Myers, CB, Houston
Chris Nelson, DT, Texas
Trevor Wood, TE/LS, Texas A&M
Matthew Wright, K, Central Florida

Dravon Askew-Henry probably the most familiar from his HS career at Aliquippa. Also some competition for Boswell and Berry. Slightly interesting that no "camp arm" qb signed, but maybe they'll bring one in on a tryout basis at the upcoming mini-camp.

Steelers also release ILB Jon Bostic.
