Maatta was placed on injured reserve and is out indefinitely with an "upper body injury" as per the team's press release. Not good as he has had shoulder surgery several times and missed the 2015 playoff because of it.

I feel bad for the kid. Hope he is able to come back soon.

Have not heard anything about Malkin's potential suspension yet

With all of the talk of the excess of Dmen it is a good thing that they did not deal, yet.

Not surprised Malkin was suspended a game but it was funny to listen on how the NHL narrated it as they said after Raffl hit Malkin in the back of the head. IMO, they should be able to go back on things like that and be able to fine or suspend someone for that also

PG reports Ollie Maatta to miss at least 4 weeks with a seperated shoulder from the shove into the boards during the 1st period of the game in Phila.

Blueger is in, Simon is out and ZAR is back and playing on the 4th line.

Pearson moved up to the second line with Bjugstad and Kessel. Hornqvist on the third line with McCan and Blueger

Rust gets a shorthanded goal to tie this game up 1-1 early in the second period

Nice to see Blueger back in the lineup as he cleans up the garbage in front of the net and scores and gives the Penguins a 2-1 lead. Letang and Crosby got the assists on that one

McDavid gets awarded a huge penalty shot and has an opportunity to tie this game up

Nope! Murray stones him and the Pens still lead this game 2-1. Nice save by Murray!

McDavid went for Murray's weak spot, his glove hand, but Murray beat him.

Just a fabulous final shift by Sid and his line keeping McDavid and company penned in their own end and not allowing Edm to pull their goalie. Jagr was the best I've seen at having and keeping the puck, but Sid is right up there with him. McCann topped it all off with an EN goal for a 3-1 final.

This is the Murray they are going to need down the stretch if the Pens are going to secure a playoff spot and make a run in the playoffs. He has been really good these past 2 games and hopefully he can keep this up. As you said bfgrad, Crosby was just unbelievable last night. I think he really gets up for games like this lately when people are forgetting that he is still the best overall player in the NHL IMO. People are just so quick to want to label the next best player but Sid is still here and playing at a high level even though he is not one of the top points getters.

Next the Pens have the dreaded weekend, back to back afternoon games against Calgary on Saturday and the Rangers on Sunday. Both on NBC as Pittsburgh is being promoted as one of the 3 best hockey towns with Detroit and Minneapolis

Bad news in my household also. This is probably my last season as a Pittsburgh Penguin season ticket holder. They raised ticket prices again so it is now for me being in Section 202, my seats are going to be almost $7,400.00 for a full season of 43 games! Gonna call and see if I can maybe go down to a half season plan and keep my seats but I doubt they will do that. Wish me luck!

We, as Pens' fans, have been so lucky to have been able to see generational hockey talents Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby and to a lesser extent Malkin. Not only see them, but see them play together and bring home championships.

Good luck! That's a lot of $s for full season tickets. The good thing is there are almost always tickets out there for sale for any particular game and there are partial season ticket plans available.

Back in the day, in the years leading up to drafting Mario, I had two seats on the red line at the Civic Arena....
I was going to Geneva College at the time.

Tickets were $8 a seat, plus the Beaver County Transit bus ride, an order of nachos and a Coke, and I was GOLDEN for about $30 a game.
Worked weekend overnights and mowed lawns, and saw some of the worst hockey you've ever seen....and I was hooked.
