Pens get a point but lose their third straight and have to start matching the intensity of the teams they are playing. It doesnít get any easier as they go to Tampa on Saturday. A couple mistakes today lead to two goals for Florida. Letís see if Sullivan sticks with these lines or switches them up again

I don't mind Cullen, but he was overmatched playing with Kessel and Rust. Wasn't crazy about the d pairs either. Malkin's gotten a lot of criticism, but it's easy to see just how much his being in the line up means to the Pens since he's been out.

I was one of those that was saying to take either him or Kessel off the top power play but now, without Malkin, the power play looks completely lost right now so i'm not sure what they do to fix their power play

DeSmith in net again tonight but Murray is backup so looks like heíll be ready to go against the Flyers on Monday. Malkin and ZAR are still practicing in no contact jerseys so they donít look to be ready yet

Sullivan has Bjugstad centering the second line tonight. I wouldíve liked to see him keep him with Crosby for a little while longer and have Blueger center the second line. Donít like when Sullivan keeps using Rust and/or Simon as his go tos when he changed lines

Also congrats to Crosby for playing in his 916th game to make him the most games played as a Penguin

Would like to see him get some points tonight as he has been quiet the last several games

Penguins on a 2 on 1 break and Wilson gets his first national hockey league goal off a great feed from Blueger and that gives the Penguins a 1-0 lead over Tampa

Pens get sloppy and give up two goals in 57 seconds and Tampa takes a 2-1 lead after one period

Pens still sloppy as they give up a short handed goal and Tampa takes a 3-1 lead then the Pens take a penalty and thatís it for their power play.

Pens are only one point ahead of Carolina for that last playoff spot. Pens need to figure this out

McCann gets a 4 on 4 goal to pull the Pens back to only one goal behind

That shorthanded goal hurt!

Pens get another 4 on 4 goal and tie this game up 3-3. Great work by Guentzel and Rust down low and Rust gets the goal

Except for that short handed goal they gave up, Penguins have a strong second period against the Lightning and this game is tied up 3-3 after two periods.

Penguins lose their 4th straight as they fall to Tampa 5-4. Itís getting way too late in the season to go on these losing streaks and now they have to play the red hot Flyers on Monday

Why, when your team regularly is giving up shorties, does Sullivan insist on a PP with 4F and 1D? For as talented as Letang is, he makes more than his share of bad decisions.

The lines were better last night. Bjugstad was a big improvement between Kessel and Pearson over Cullen. Malkin can slot right in there when he returns. OTOH, the D pairing are awful. Petterson is not a 1st pair d-man and Johnson isn't a top 4 d-man. Put those two back together or change one of them out for Ruhwedel or Riikola when Schultz comes back.

I am really interested to see what Sullivan does when Schultz is ready to come back. I also hopes it sparks this team to a winning streak

I also agree that Letang makes mistakes when he is on the point on the power play which is why I would immediately put Schultz on the top power play with Letang up top and I would take Kessel off. I know Kessel will be pissed but Sullivan needs to put two defenseman on that top power play and with Kessel on the second unit, Sullivan needs to rotate the teams quicker. Many times I have seen that top power play gassed and canít get back to defend and wind up giving up a shorthanded goal

Saturday night the New York Rangers had their 25th anniversary of their 1994 Stanley Cup celebration with a nice ceremony. Lots of likable players on that NYR team, including former Pens Zubov, Kovalev, Olczyk, and Mike Hudson (as well as Colin Campbell as Asst. Coach). Worth a youtube watch if you remember hockey from that era. I was definitely not rooting for the Rangers in 1994, but for whatever reason have like a number of their players over the years, including those with zero Pens connections Richter, Leech, Vanbiesbrouck, Mike Gartner, King Hendrik, and Petr Prucha.
