Final Mount St. Joe's 75 john Carroll 49

John Carroll #13 - 13 and #10 & #12 both with 9, 6-3's and 6 of 8 FT

Mount St. Joe's #10 - 15, #20 - 13, #11 - 11 and #5 & # 31 both with 10, 6-3's and 11 of 17 FT

This was not like the battles between these two schools over the last few years. No division 1 coaches looking on, no McDonald's All-Americans on the floor, no charged atmosphere. In fact there was no atmosphere.

Unlike the Titanic games between the two over the last couple of years, this year is different. No Division 1 coaches looking in, no Mcdonald's All-Americans on the floor. Rebuilding time for both.

Mt. St. joe's should be ok. They have some talent and a good coach.

john Carroll is a different story. They graduated a couple of D-1 players with a solid senior class. They lost their coach. They also lost a couple of transfers. One junior guard left for Dulaney, a public school in Timonium Md. Their Turkish swingman transferred to Bishop Walsh in Cumberland Md. Cumberland Md?

Walsh is the host school for the end of year Alhambra Catholic tournament. Every year they get beat like a rented mule by the likes of Gonzaga, Dematha and M. S. J. Guess they decided to do something about it. They got a new coach via St. James, they became a Nike Elite school and they got 11 (yes that's eleven) transfers from all over the place.

They'll be playing at the State College opening tournament and have also assembled a formidable schedule. First time I will see them will be at the Slam Dunk To the Beach vs. Vermont Academy. Good luck to them!
