Penguins had 16 shots over the Senators 7 but Ottawa leads 1-0 after one period. Senators went in full on defensive mode after scoring that lone goal.

Senators score just 11 seconds into the second period but Pittsburgh is challenging that it was offsides

Pens get it to overtime and get a point but lose 2-1 after a too many men on the ice penalty was called on Pittsburgh when Malkin stepped on the ice too early before Guentzel could get off. 4on 3 for Ottawa ensued and they scored when DeSmith couldn't get over in time to stop the shot on the left post.

Frustrating loss for the Penguins as they were the dominate team for it seemed the entire game but they just could not solve Craig Anderson tonight. Rust and ZAR had a wide open net but shot wide on an occasion. I wonder if Sprong would've scored there? I guess we will never know. Sullivan would rather have a player like Rust and now he has to live with that and I guess so do we

Anyone see Sprong's shootout goal last night against the Devils? Continues to make me wonder how this player couldn't get in the lineup here.

He's the next Markus Naslund in Penguin bad trade lore.

Pens and Islanders 0-0 after one period. Pens took way too many penalties and the Pens had a 4 minute power play on a high stick to Guentzel but they were barely able to get off a shot. DeSmith was huge and if it wasnít for him, islanders would. E up by several goals

Islanders have the lead 1-0 after two periods. Penguins have no offense to speak of and when they are able to get off a shot, it's getting blocked or saved. Islanders have all the lanes clogged. Penguins have no breathing room tonight

Finally the Penguins are able to break through and tie this game. Brassard gets the goal to tie this game 1-1

And the Penguins take a horrible penalty with 2:48 left in overtime. Bad tripping penalty by Brassard

Pens still donít have a shootout goal this season. Letís see if that changed:

Islanders up - no goal
Kessel up for the Pens - scores!
Islanders up - no goal
Crosby can win it here - no goal
Islanders need to score - score
Malkin is up for the win - nope
Islanders up - no goal
Letang up - no goal
Islanders up - no goal
Guentzel up - first attempt at a shootout and he scores!
