FBS Week 3
« on: September 10, 2018, 04:34:01 PM »

Terrible week of games.  The Thursday/Friday games are god awful.  So I'll jump right into Saturday's lame slate of games.

Houston vs Texas Tech
17 Boise State vs (24) Oklahoma State
12 LSU vs (7) Auburns
(4) OSU vs (15) TCU
(10) Washinton vs Utah
(23) ASU vs. SDSU

I hope the Boise State game is away. because I really hate that blue turf.

I guess there are a few other interesting games I could have mentioned:

Hawaii vs Army: offensively this is a battle of solar opposites.  Rainbows have hottest QB in country thanks to their Run N' Shoot.  Can Army chew up enough time with ball control triple option to keep their outmanned DBs off the field.

ND vs Vandy: I don't expect Vandy to win, but didn't expect Ball State to play ND within one possession either.  Winbush can't keep turning the ball over for ND.

Kansas vs Rutgers: the world awaits a Kansas win streak.

Syracuse vs FSU: Syracuse is feeling a 3-0 start!

USC vs Texas:  At one time this game would have been circled as one of the biggies this week, now I no idea where either of these teams are heading.  At least USC is grooming a true frosh QB who's gonna be really good some day.

New Mexico vs New Mexico State:  RIVALRY!

Florida State is a train wreck right now as they are being shutout by Syracuse. They struggled last week vs a cupcake and were blown out by VT to start the season. Boosters and fans wonít take stuff like this for long.

Big 10 has some ugly losses in these early games.

Rutgers getting blown out by a Kansas team that is routinely the worst Power 5 team in the country.

Maryland, after beating Texas, is getting hammered by Temple.

Troy is up on Nebraska in Lincoln with a couple minutes to go.

I feel bad for Nebraska losing the true freshman QB.  Kid was a playmaker and perfect Scott Frost recruit for his offense.  You dedicate all that time and reps to him over the summer and then in Camp, only to then be forced to play another guy in that spot.

Some late night happenings:

OSU beat TCU in a great game.  Almost felt like a playoff game.  Great venue, great atmosphere, lots of offense and big plays, and some good defense at times too.

Texas whooping up on USC right now.  Also still in action, Washington/Utah is a good game and so is ASU/SDSU.  Fresno is beating UCLA as well in late action in the 2nd Qtr.

Sunday morning UPDATE:

Texas beat USC badly
Washington's D dominated Utah in the second half and the Huskies won 21-7
SDSU ruins ASU's first week of being ranked and sends them back to being unranked
Fresno beat up on UCLA in a terrible way, 38-16

Iím hoping to see an Ohio State vs Alabama championship. Both teams have passings games they normally donít possess so I think the game is inevitable unless the QBs get injured at some point.

Surprised nobody mentioned FSU or Arkansas.

FSU is just plain awful.  Just a terrible OL.  Lots of player in-fighting and disdain.  A real mess right now.

And Arkansas.  Oh my.  North Texas just stomped them, and it was never close or never a competitive game.
