Good news is the Pirates up 3-0 already in the 1st inning and are not done yet. They are taking advantage of a Brewers pitcher that has been struggling.

Bad news for me is Meadows is out of the lineup again. I think this is the 5th straight game. So frustrating that Hurdle is doing this IMO. If he is not going to paly him, send him back down or trade him

Meadows has cooled off considerably, not unexpected imho. With Luplow up now, I won't be surprised if Meadows is sent down to play regularly and also to keep him from attaining "super 2" status.

Pirates win 7-3 and take the first 2 games out of this 5 game series against the Brewers.  Bell goes 4 for 4 and has a good night. Kingham pitches 6 innings, 3 earned runs and 9 strikeouts.

Cooled off considerably?  Since going 0-9 as a starter July 3-4, Austin Meadows is 4-12 (.333) with 7 of those 12 ABs as a pinch-hitter (2-for-7, .286).

The Pirates should have more "cooled off" players at the plate.

Id send him down for 2 weeks until you trade Dickerson, hopefully for a young talented relief project like Rivero, Feliz or Crick and then you bring Meadows up and continue to try to stockpile enough quality arms that eventually you end up with 3 or 4 pretty elite relief pitchers.

Couldn't agree more with this. Very frustrating to see Hurdle constantly benching his younger players. No reason IMO to bench a young talent like Meadows for 5 straight games

this is part of the Pirates annual hot streak before all-star break then they return and have ten game losing streaks if history serves me right.

Cervelli back on the DL with post-concussive symptoms.  Going to be tougher and tougher to trade him.

Probably.  But I'm a Bucs fan and baseball fan so i'll watch.  Nova and the bullpen get the job done in Game 1 today as they win their third straight game in this series over the Brewers!

Meadows benched both games of the doubleheader. Again, you need to trade him because the manager doesn’t like him. What on earth is the point of sitting him on the bench or sending him to the minors? The guy has value. The manager that is under contract for 4 years doesn’t like him. So trade him. Not rocket science.

I couldn’t agree more. Meadows has to be getting frustrated

Moroff early and now Luplow late with homers.  Bucs up 3-0 in the 7th.

Marte is on fire as he hits another home.  Bucs up 4-0 in the 8th.  Starting pitching was great and bullpen getting out of tight situations.
