D-backs add 2 in the 3rd.  8-0 heading to the 4th.

10-6 now in 4th.  A fireman's league slow pitch softball game has broken out.

Pirates lose 13-8 in one of the ugliest games of the season so far. Even the Pirates scoring those 6 runs in the 4th came on things like a catcher interference call to load the bases, a hit by a pitch to score a run, a walk to score another, a sacrifice fly and then Marte hits a 3 run homer. 9 of the runs scored in that game were unearned

Pirates lose their 8th series in a row and will try to salvage 1 win today against Arizona.

Pirates won today, but  tried like hell to lose it.  Arizona just ran short of an out.

Vasquez did not look good again. He got the save but gave up 2 runs, loaded the bases and then struck out the last batter for the Pirates win 5-4

I still do not like this 4 outfielder rotation the Pirates are doing. Polanco is in the lineup today and Austin Meadows is the odd man out. We can all probably agree that Polanco is no longer in the Pirates long term plans anymore and Meadows is so IMO, it is time to put Meadows in the lineup and either trade or send Polanco down. I'm sure since the Pirates are playing the Reds they will probably squeak out a win but I still say they are hurting a young player like Meadows for the long run

Pirates had chance to blow this open with bases loaded and no outs but Polanco blistered a ball that was knocked down and turned into a double play.

Reds up 2-1 thanks to a Kuhl throwing error but he did a great job of limiting damage in that inning.

Good job by Bucs with bases loaded and 0 out in the sixth as Marte and Moran are each able to go the other way to get sac flies to grab a 3-2 lead.

Pirates hold on to win 3-2. Glasnow pitched the 7th, Crick the 8th and Vasquez the 9th and gets the save.

I disagree about Meadows. I donít think heís an every day player. He hasnít showed any ability to remain healthy as an every day player in the minors. I think heís a good 4 or 5 game a week player who is best suited resting a day each series.

Agreed on Meadows with BT. We are anointing him already...same way some of us did Polanco when the Pirates were being blasted for being "cheap" while in reality back then most teams, even the Yankees of the world, likely would have wanted to save the controllable year.

They can probably be more shrewd and less robotic about this "outfield rotation" than they have been, but just because Meadows is their hottest outfielder the past three weeks does not necessarily make him their best or even second best. Maybe he is but maybe he is their 4th or 5th best OF and just happens to be hot right now (i.e Frazier at times).

Even if Meadows is your best, he has had 4 seasons of full season minor league action and played the following number of games.

2014: 45
2015: 127
2016: 87
2017: 81

Doesnít look like heís made to play every day.
