In sad news former NHL goalie Ray Emery died in a drowning accident Sunday. He was 35 years old.

He was kind of a Penguins nemesis of sorts as he played for both some Ottawa and Philly teams that played thr Pens in the playoffs. With that said he was a character of sorts, something that we don't see a ton of in the NHL.

RIP Ray Emery.

Pens sign center Derek Grant to a one year deal worth 650,000. Don't know too much about him but from what I read he is a good face off guy and penalty killer. This signing sounds to me to not only be a signing for depth but also a replacement for a Carter Rowney and/or Tom Kuhnhackel type of player

Jarry agrees to a two year contract worth 675,000 a year. It's a two way contract and the rumor floating out there is Casey DeSmith will start as the backup to Murray and Jarry will get more playing time staying down and if Murray gets hurt and is out for several games or an extended amount of time, Jarry will come up and take over
