I thought Cullen wanted to settle down in MN? I guess the lure of another shot at the Cup with Pgh was too good to pass up.

I'll bet this means Brassard is squarely on the trade market. Nash is perpetually on the hunt for a 1/2C, maybe a match there. Or maybe goes back to his original team, NYR. Seems to be a fair amount of that going on free agency today.

I was thinking the same thing. With Sheahan and Cullen back and resigning Dea, IMO, there is no room for Brassard at center or wing

Grabner who was rumored the Pens were looking at signed a 3 year deal with the Coyotes

Kunitz signed a 1 year deal with the Blackhawks. I heard his wife is from Chicago. Happy wife, happy life!

Ian Cole signs a 3 year deal with the Avalanche

Ryan Reaves got a nice 2 year deal from Vegas worth 2.75 million a year

Kind of a slow free agent day in the NHL

Remember that Dea has a two way contract. He is likely at WBS Brassard or no Brassard.

Also look at Cullen's salary $650k. It is quite possible that he is the depth guy at this point  (kind of the Rowney role).

I know Dea is on a two way contract but I feel he will be up here sooner rather than later. me pointing out Dea was signed was not meant to say he will be the 4th line center on October 4th against the Capitals

I honestly think they brought Cullen back to be the 4th line center and for his penalty killing. IMO, I would like to see Cullen and Dea switching every now and again as 4th line centers. Cullen plays for say 5 games, give him a game off and bring Dea up. That is just me wishful thinking

Tortorella is so pissed.  He is such a d-bag even if some of what he said may be right.

I heard about this. Johnson in his presser said something like he is happy to be with a team that has a culture of winning and Tortorella was told this and flew off the handle! I can't wait to watch that first game the Pens go to Columbus. should be chippy

The Jackets GM had words for Jim Rutherford and Jack Johnson also. Definitely adds to the rivalry haha!

Marc Andre Fleury signs a 3 year extension with the Vegas Golden Knights worth a total of 21 million. He will be turning 34 this year

This new contract takes affect after this upcoming season. What I like paying attention to is his all time win total and where he will end up. Right now he has 404 regular season wins and ranked 11th all time. Only active goalies in front of Fleury are Lundqvist with 430 wins and Luongo with 471.  I would love to see Fleury get at minimum 30 wins a season over the next 4 seasons and then he would be up in the top 5 or 6 depending how Luongo and Lundqvist keep going. Nobody will ever probably catch Brodeur with 691 total wins but Roy sitting at #2 with 551 wins is definitely not out of the conversation

I am in the camp that felt that prior to the end of the first Mike Johnston season  (when the Pens finished in a rut and lowish in the standings for the first time in years, followed by losing his net to MM at the end of the next season season then losing an entire season as a starter in the first full Sullivan season) that MAF would have the potential to challenge Brodeur, as crazy as it seems. Injuries and Mike Sullivan have derailed that as a reality, but yes #2 is definitely attainable!

Pens play Vegas in Vegas January 18th and I am planning on a trip out there! Never been to Vegas. Looking forward to seeing Vegas and checking out their arena. Anybody been to Vegas and can give me some advice on some stuff to see I would greatly appreciate it. Only gonna be there for a couple days but it should be a blast!

If you like steak dinner or melt in your mouth ribs...this is a good place to eat...fair pricing and where many of the locals go. Located right off the strip, 1 block behind Bally's Casino. Don't know if things are still the same but the small casino wasn't that great at all...however the food was tremendous if there on the right night. Keep this in mind though...that was 2 years ago...and things may have changed. I've seen both good and bad revues...I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. Enjoy Vegas!!
