Man if only the Pirates were in the AL Central.  They would be running away with that weak division.  Though I guess they haven’t played Cleveland or KC yet.

It's all gonna fall apart if Cervelli and Marte's injuries are serious. Hopefully Harrison is close, heard he drew a 9 pitch walk Sunday. Cervelli was hit like Harrison and Marte had discomfort on his right side, left after 1 inning.

Marte .308 6 HR 19 RBI (30 runs scored!) .856 OPS before his double tonight
Cervelli .302 6 HR 24 RBI .985 OPS before his 0-1 with HBP(1-2 on his obp so could be higher)

Kevin Newman(14-27) won AAA player of week and OF Jason Martin(.522) was Eastern League(AA) POTW

The Rodriguez fella should be the new 8th inning man, give him a try first. Hurdle says he isn't naming one now.

24-17

Bucs 7
CWS 0 F

W-Williams(5-2) 7IP 6 H, 0 BB, 6 K 94-64 his ERA is back below 3(2.72)

 HR-Frazier(3)

be nice not to need much of an 8th inning guy for next 8 games, playing some bad teams.

A D-Backs win would have us back in a share of 1st, it's 0-0 in 3rd

The only good that I can think of is that Cervelli initially stayed in the game so I'm not thinking a broken wrist. My guess is that since he was on the base paths for a while the swelling and pain was probably too much (not getting ice or much in the way of first aid right away). Marte leaving seemed more mysterious.  But I agree much like the Harrison injury their depth is only so good, and while it isn't terrible  (Frazier for Harrison, Diaz for Cervelli,  Osuna for another OF, etc) I would rather these guys playing as just that...depth.

sounds like Marte's injury(oblique) is worrying the Pirates a bit. Cervelli's is a bruise and he probably wouldn't of been in lineup today anyway.

Bucs 2
CWS 1 top 4

Frazier, Moran , Bell, Marte, and Cervelli all out of lineup today.

Won 3-2, Taillon no-decision again.

Bucs lead Central by half game until the Brewers game ends, then it will be tied if Diamonbacks don't have a huge comeback. 8-2 in 8th

Marte doesn't think he will need to go on DL

I think Marte and Cervelli should both go on the DL. They’d only miss 9 games and probably be fully recovered. Hurdle and Huntington seem to prefer playing with a short bench for 4 or 5 days at a time though. Imagine that’s what will happen.

CAN NOT WAIT for Harrison to get back in the lineup.

Moroff is a about a 2.5A player....

Perhaps a AA fielder, a Mendoza hitter...

This series will be an interesting challenge imo. Padres are starting lefties in 3 of 4 games. The worry is that either the lefties stink against the lefties, or the likes of Max Moroff and Sean Rod are getting key at bats.
