disastrous 6 run 4th inning. Got it back to 6-5 but never tied or took lead again. Kern was perfect through first 3 innings, 12 came to the plate in 4th.

Rochester lost the first game to a Christian school

Battled in a tight playoff game against a higher seed.  Can't be mad about that.  Underclassman got to experience what it takes to win in the playoff.  That should pay off in the future.

A couple notes, 1 about something that DID happen, 1 about something that almost happened and should not be allowed to happen.

1)  Waynesburg, trailing 6-0, rallied to score 1 in third, 1 in fourth and 3 in fifth, with all kinds of momentum.
During the top of the sixth, a lightning flash sent the teams off the field.
During the 30-minute wait, rain intensified, ultimately leading to the calling of the game as final and official.
In the WPIAL playoffs, with TWO weeks to play until the finals, this should not happen.  Game should be suspended, then completed the next day.

2) SOFTBALL game:  Trailing 10-9 to Seneca Valley after six innings, Peters Township scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning.  During that time, the homeplate umpire asked the WPIAL game manager about the falling darkness and about suspending the game.  The game manager said it would not be suspended, but rather a final, reverting back to the last completed inning.  By rule, that is correct.  However, there is no rule to stop a team from delaying/stalling in such circumstances.

For instance, once Peters took the lead and seeing the darkening skies, what's to stop Seneca Valley from changing pitchers every batter?  What's to stop them from delaying, stalling knowing all they have to do is get to dark and they'll be declared the winner.  This should not be.
This is another situation where the game should be suspended, not declared final.

I've spoken with state-wide rules interpreters about the softball situation.  The Rules of Baseball (MLB rules) provide for such a suspension. Federation rules specifically refer to reverting back to end of previous inning.  That needs to change.

that last completed inning thing sucks, our Little League team got burnt on that last year, we had took the lead back when rain started but since we didn't finish the inning/game, We took a loss.

I absolutely agree both of those should never ever happen in the playoffs

To me, the whole playoff system is ridiculous! 1 game a week? And we have to play 20 games in 40 days? Doesn’t make sense to me.

And you are allowed to “scrimmage” between your games, c’mon man! Not sure how many baseball teams elect to “scrimmage” but I know softball teams do!

Makes no sense to me!

Playoff teams can scrimmage other playoff teams (until eliminated) as often as desired.

We did that with quite a few teams on our week off since we received a bye last year.  Can't just sit around and take BP for 2 weeks doing nothing.

My point is, there shouldn’t be a 2 week wait. Shouldn’t be 1 game a week either.
