PSU 2018
« on: January 20, 2018, 10:04:44 PM »

PSU has lost it's OC, RB coach, WR coach, Barkley, Gesicki and Hamilton heading into spring ball.  Time to see what James Franklin and his past two recruiting classes are made of.

And they play MSU, OSU, Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin.

I think they'll be fine. They return McSorley, Sanders, Tommy Stevens, the entire OL minus Mahon. Maybe Nick Bowers will be the next Geseki, who was pretty ordinary up until last year.

not a Penn State guy, and only watched a few of their games, but the WR, #84, was as impressive to me as anybody mentioned in the above post

Went to spring game today. Really nice atmosphere considering.  There has to be 70,000 there. Tailgaters everywhere. I have been a Pitt season ticket holder for lat 5 years and just moved up near state college. Can't even compare the 2 schools.  Everyone who wonders why Pitt struggle to attract top recruits should come to Happy Valley then they will understand.

PSU killing it in recruiting.  Just got commits from the #1 and #2 players from the state of Virginia.  Both 5-stars.  Both in Top 50 of ESPN's 300 list.  Also got a 4-star DB.

This helps Pitt too.  Keeps those guys out of the ACC (UVA/VT).

Today PSU got the best QB from the state of Oregon, who's a Top 10 dual threat QB in nation.

Penn State in a dog fight at home vs App State.  PSU up a TD late but App State has the ball.

Penn State in trouble as the game is tied and App State is in the red zone with under 2 minutes to play.

App State with the TD.  Penn State has time but we could be looking at a massive upset to start the season.

PSU ties late and App State misses a 56 yard FG to send the game to OT.

Penn State scores a TD and App State must match now.

I know App St's history of opening week upsets and they point to these games as their "super bowl" more of less, but still a top ten team should not have struggled this much. I'm glad on the tying drive, Rahne was smart enough to put Brandon Polk, McSorley's HS teammate, in to give McSorley a wr who knows how he thinks.

Penn State has a lot of work to do, esp on the OL and DL.

Great game.  App State is always a scary team.  Just ask Michigan. lol  They play a couple heavyweights every year and are not afraid of the big boys.  3 Straight 10 win seasons.  Great QB battle all day.  McSorley came through when he had to and PSU ducks a huge upset that would have screwed their season.  They definitely have some work to do on defense.  Miles Sanders looks like he's going to be a top notch back.

App State coach let them down by trying that FG. Who knows how it turns out if they go for it but that had a 0% chance of succeeding.
