Not sure if anyone saw this but the Pirates moved their home game on Sat. 9/8 to 1:05 PM to clear the way for the Pitt/PSU game to be played under the lights at night.  Could really be a crazy atmosphere after both fan bases will be drinking all day prior to the game.

You can count on that one being Pitt's one full house for the season with all those crazy PSU fans.  As you said it should be interesting given the fact they'll be tailgating/drinking all day.

I actually think it is a pretty big mistake to turn that into a night game out of concerns for public safety. You are also putting a number of officers and paramedics into use and neglecting other parts of the city. Has disaster written all over it to me.

meh, nothing has happened the last 2 years despite all the worries. No different than Pitt hosting Florida State or Notre Dame at night

Have you noticed the Pitt Head Football coach sitting in on the welcoming of the new basketball coaches that AD has hired..after firing the last coaches?  Just wondering what might be going through his mind watching this and remembering he was NOT hired by her and she does not seem willing to put up with losing seasons.

That's where my thinking is on this.

For one, when is Pittsburgh a mess for a sporting event? And 2 the way Penn State fans tell it this is their 12th most important game anyways lol.

PSU plays OSU, MSU, Iowa, Michigan and Wisky within in a span of SIX weeks!!  So lol but Pitt may honestly barely be in their top half of PSU's worries even though we think we're important.

Anyways, GTHOH with not playing a night game for concerns of public safety?  Because paramedics might be needed in another part of the city?  Jesus H.  I can't believe this was given as a possible reason to not host a nationally televised night game that we so desperately need in order to turn the corner.

Women's hoops were perennial, long term losers.  Men's hoops were short term losers but did it up in a grandiose way.  So they're not even in same ball park as Pitt missing a football bowl game last year.

Granted they need to turn the corner sooner than later.  But that will come much much easier in the ACC Football Coastal than it will in the entire 16 team ACC Basketball league.  Hoops has to play all the best teams in basketball  - UNC, Duke, UVA - sometimes even twice.  In Football, they don't even play the two best programs once: FSU or Clemson.  Kids are graduating, bunch of kids were invited to the Combine in Feb, some will get drafted this weekend.  So things are a tad more stable with football.  Just need that big win or two this year compared to last year.

Just got an email prompting me to buy season tickets for Pitt football.  Clicked on it and saw that there are ALOT of tickets still to be sold.  Including 1st and 2nd row seats on the sidelines and lots of club seats.

Look at who they are playing at home this year, what a shit lineup for fans. Especially since you can't include PSU in 3 game mini package. Albany, the Techs, Duke, and Syracuse. In the past we got a 3 game package, went to 1 game, gave away or sold the other tickets. Holding PSU game hostage is going to backfire on them.

Plus, the only thing available to buy at this moment are season tix. End of the month, 3-game and single game tickets go on sale.

Sorry I forgot about this haha. All I am saying was people drank way too much for a noon game. Donít think playing at night is a great idea. Granted it was 90 degrees that particular day.

Announced today that Pitt and Wisconsin will be playing a 2 year home and home series in 2026.  The game at Heinz will be in 2027.

Just looked up last years attendance numbers.  PSU averaged nearly 107,000 per game Pitt 36,000.
