KR, sorry for your loss. Hard as it was, you did the right thing to let her go peacefully.

Thank you all!  She was a fighter to the end and our house is a little quieter and lot emptier.  Down to one dog and that is our rescue, Boomer, who is around 8 years old.

Just seeing this entire thread now.  Looking back, you hit the lottery by having her around for 16 years.  A great, long life she had!

My 10 year old doggie tore a knee ligament jumping off the bed.  Since he was walking around on 3 legs I took him to the vet and got very lucky.  The Vet said he could repair it surgically for $2200 or option 2 since he only weighs 22 pounds is just give him pain pills and anti inflammatory meds for a while and in smaller dogs they develop scar tissue and regain 90-95% function within a couple months.  Well, $2200 or $15 was a no brainer! lol  It's been 2 weeks and he can walk on it a little already.  No pain and he's a happy camper so, we lucked out.

Yeah my Quincy tore his ACL 5 years ago but since he was over 50 lbs we had to do surgery.  It cost us about 1500 as they gave me a discount since I work in the veterinary field. He did well with surgery and
Never had another problem.
