It's a concussion and Shazier is back in Pgh. That's good since earlier reports made it sound like he might not be released and return until Thursday.

Well that's good news!

Yes, that he was stable enough to be released and fly home.

Unless I missed a statement from Burt Lauten/Steelers they still dont seem to know for sure if it's a contusion or concussion. Or announced  if the swelling has subsided and he got all feeling back in his lower body. That's troubling. It's good he's back here though.

Hearing he had a spinal stabilization surgery.  Nit sure that paints as rosy a picture as some have predicted or not.  Hoping for the best result to help him being 100% functional.  And if that includes football again some year, great.  But if not, equally as great.

From the PG story, sounds like he might have some compression fractures and also the surgery was kind of a minimalist approach. He's young and his back will heal in due time.

Correct. From the sounds of it he is definitely out for 2017, may or may not play football ever again, but like you said if quality of life is good I am ok with all of this.

Article on Yahoo said he has had surgery is definitely out for the rest of the year and will take months of rehab to come back. Sounds like football will be the last thing on his mind right now

The PG update provides no real info. No one knows exactly what was done or why, so everything is pretty much speculation at this point.

Just anectodally, one my classmate's father had his spine repaired with screws and rods this past spring/summer. He's in at least his mid-80s and his surgery - an 8 hr procedure - was done by a back specialist right here in Beaver county. After a couple of months rehab, he walked out of assisted living and drove himself and his wife home. I think Shazier will be fine although whether he can continue playing football is another question.

Buffalo vs Indianapolis both teams seem to be set on not letting their QBs throw the ball in the snow. 2 passes completed and it's almost halftime. 9 passes thrown total. Only 2 by Brisset

edit :Peterman just threw a TD pass! 4 passes completed, 3 by Peterman(3-8-38-1-0) 1 for Brisset (1-2-11), and 0 by Joe Webb(0-1)

Colts- 22 run plays, 2 pass. Bills more balanced 23 run, 9 pass. Buffalo up 7-0. Buffalo loss(or tie) puts Steelers in playoffs

Cleveland may get first win today. Gordon and Coleman is a nice WR duo. They'll probably find a way to blow it. Cle 14-7

Cowboys struggling with Giants 10-10

Chiefs could of put Raiders away but settling for FGs, 16-0

Panthers up 4 on Vikings 14-10, Vikings added FG. Carolina up 14-13.

49ers just took lead on Texans 10-3, Texans tied it up quick, BOB benched Savage or he got hurt(idk) and Yates completed 4 passes to Hopkins for 54 yards and a TD. 10-9, failed the xp. Niners get FG. 13-9

Chicago up on Bengals 12-7

Lions fighting to keep season alive up 14-7 on Bucs, Stafford just threw an interception

Still 7-0 Bills, dont look like Steelers are gonna clinch a wild card until later. game is already almost over because it's mostly running the ball

2:00 warning, Colts got 2nd and 9 at Bills 13

1st and gl at 3

Doyle TD! 7-6. Big extra point coming! Going for 2. Got it. OMG! Pass interference on offense.........Colts trying xp. dammit! Vinatieri's 43 XP  is good, barely. Hit crossbar and over.

7-7

tie is same as Colts win for Steelers

Colts interception has ball at Bills 25 with 52 seconds, 43yd FG attempt no good in snow. OT coming

Buffalo uses 6:00 going 40 yards, 4th and 1 on Colts 41, timeout, guessing they go for it, a punt would pin Colts tho. 4:13 left. They punt.

Meanwhile in Cleveland, Packers tie it 21-21, going to OT. Browns win ruins planned @Reflog_18 0-16 parade, lol

Colts 3 and out, Bills at BUF 35 after punt, Webb flips field with 30 yard pass. Bills at Colts 19, no kick is automatic with all that snow

McCoy touchdown wins game. Bah humbug!

Browns 0-16 campaign alive! Lose 27-21 in OT. Packers still alive with #12 due to come off IR. Browns last 50 games: 4-46 Browns had 21-7 4th qtr lead

what a game

Steelers 39
Ravens 38 F

never easy but this is good experience. They may need to come back in playoffs and they'll be calm.

Ben 1st QB in NFL history with 3 500yd games. Brown had 200+

So when does Boswell officially become the fourth Killer B?

Unbelievable game.  Not sure how much longer they can keep pulling out games like this but it sure is fun to watch.
