Lots of players back from last years 14-1 team.  Should be ready for another deep run again.

17 of 22 starters back, plus both kickers.  Biggest issue is replacing 3 offensive linemen.  My nephew & one other starter are the  only ones back.  But, with all the blowouts, the 2nd & 3rd team guys got plenty of time and both the JV & 9th grade teams were unbeaten.

Steamers, a lot of the credit for the Raiders getting back to being an annual state power goes to Rob Deibler.  He sacrificed wins the years he was head coach to put all the basics back in place.  Before he got there Middletown was dressing 35 kids for varsity games.  Now that number is in the 70's.  He went to the Seven Sorrows midget coaches and talked them into running the same offense the high school and the other midget program in town was running.  He also got the kids to buy back into staying in Middletown to play instead of going to McDevitt, including my nephew.  Over 90% of the Seven Sorrows kids are now staying in town once again and you can see the direct result of Middletown being on the upswing and McD pretty much returning to where they used to be.  Between Seven Sorrows and Holy Name, which are McD's two big feeders, they're no longer getting the kids.  With Central Dauphin also being state ranked annually, the Holy Name kids are also staying home to play for CD.  The fact that both schools are top notch academically and it costs $7 grand a year to go to McD, it's a pretty easy choice for the kids.

When Bret Meyers took over for Rob, he kept most of Rob's assistants and continued with everything that Rob installed, plus adding some of his own stuff.  I'm sorry Rob got caught up in those personal problems because he really is a good guy.  But, I'm also sure he is really proud of those kids.  Because he really started the Raiders on the road back and Middletown fans realize that.

Downriver, just wondering what kids from Seven Sorrows went on to play a significant role at Mcdevitt?

Can't really name any names but the large majority of McD's kids come from Seven Sorrows and Holy name.  I do remember several years back, their entire starting backfield and several linemen could have played ball for Middletown.  Since my grandson graduated from McD, I don't follow them much any more.

Thanks Downriver, I was just wondering....you seem to be in tune with Middletown sports, what is going on with the Fox kid? Seems like a great talent and can play some football but there doesn't appear to be any college offers yet (according to Pennlive), that seems kind of odd?

I'm sure Fox will get some offers.  He'll make a very solid D2 or D3 back.
